Harold was born on 12th September, the eldest of five boys. He went to St. George’s Secondary School followed by an apprenticeship in xx with <Vaughan> . In 19xx he moved to Farnborough and became the lodger at Mildred and Jimmy Owen’s house 53 Peabody Road. Mavis was the younger daughter who he married in 1946 at North Camp Garrison Methodist Church. They lived in Chelmsford for a short time while Harold worked at Crompton Parkinson, an electrical engineering company. In 1950 they moved into 11a Canterbury Road which was their residence for all their lives. Harold was a self taught pianist and organist and he played at the Methodist Church for over 38 years. He enjoyed designing and making things and in later life won prized for his wood carving.
